These are the Names of the Island of Britain:

The first Name that this Island bore,

before it was taken or settled :

Merlin’s Enclosure.

And after it was taken and settled,

the Island of Honey.

And after it was conquered

it was called

the Island of the Mighty.

Britain has Three Chief Adjacent Islands,

and Twenty-seven others are subordinate to it.

These are the Three Adjacent Islands :

Anglesey, Mon and Wight.

the Island of Britain has Three Chief Rivers :

One at the Island of Afallach,

and the second at Caer Caradoc,

and the third at Bangor.

In each of these places there are 2,400 religious men;

and of these 100 in turn continue each hour

of the twenty-four hours of the day and night

in prayer and service to God,

ceaselessly and without rest for ever.

The Three Realms of Britain :

Logres, Cambria and Albany.

There should be held therein

a Crown and three Coronets.

The Crown should be worn in London,

and one of the Coronets at Penrhyn Rhionedd in the North,

the second in Cambria, and the third in Cornwall.

And no one has a right to this Island

except only the nation of the Cymry,

the remnant of the Britons,

who came here in former days from Troy.

and Cei son of Cynyr of the Fair Beard.

And one was diademed above the three of them

that was Bedwyr son of Bedrawc

Three Favourites of Arthur’s Court

and Three Battle Horsemen:

they would never endure a penteulu over them.

And Arthur sang an englyn:

These are my Three Battle Horsemen:

Geraint son of Erbin,

and Gwenwynwyn son of Naf,

and March son of Meirchiawn.

Of the Three Immense Feasts

that were in the Island of Britain:

The greatest of them was the Feast of Arthur

in Caerleon, at his Coronation

following his victory over

the Picts and the Scots,

where twenty thousand cattle were slain

and a hundred thousand sheep,

and fifty thousand geese and capons,

and of wild and domesticated birds more

than anyone might number.

Three Surpassing Bonds of Love which

Three Men in the time of Arthur

cast upon the Three Fairest, most lovable,

and most Talked-of Maidens who were in the

Island at the time:

That which Tristan son of Tallwch cast upon

Essylt daughter of Culfanawyd, Pillar of Britain;

that which Cynon son of Clydno Eiddyn cast upon

Morfudd daughter of Urien Rheged;

That which Caradoc Strong Arm cast upon

Tegau Gold-Breast daughter of Nudd Generous Hand,

King of the North.

And those were the Three Fairest, most lovable,

and most Talked-of Maidens who were in the

Island of Britain at that time.

Three Knights of Arthur’s Court who won the Graal,

and it Brought them to Heaven:

( Three Virgin Knights who obtained the Blood of the Lord

at the Castle of Corbyn in the North.)

Galaad son of Lawnslot of the Lake,

and  Peredur son of Earl Efrawg,

and Bors son of King Bors.

And the first two were virgin of body.

And the third was chaste,

for only once had he committed bodily sin;

and that, through temptation, at the time when

he won the daughter of King Brangor,

who was the Empress of Constantinople,

and from whom was descended the greatest

race in the world.

All three were sprung from the race of

Joseph of Arimathea, and of the lineage of the

Prophet David, as the History of the Graal testifies.
